    solcentre_launch_352

    Bio:

I am a strong believer that yoga is for everybody and everybody, no matter your experience, ability, age, body type, income, race, ethnicity, religion, sexuality, sex or gender. After leaving a career in research science I moved into science/medical publishing as a journal editor. During this time, I received my 200-hour yoga teacher certification in January 2021, and in 2022 I certified to teach yin, restorative, and accessible yoga, subsequently making the switch to full-time teaching in 2023. I am currently training as a yoga therapist with the Minded Institute – never stop learning and follow your passions!

    Offering:

Expect a bit of fun and playfulness in my classes, as I encourage students to gain a better understanding of their bodies by exploring breath, movement and the use of props.

  • Rachel

    sol-centre-rachel

    Bio:

An immunologist by training, I discovered yoga after completing my PhD and, what a cliche, my life changed forever. I’m a little obsessed with the mind–body connection (psychoneuroimmunology) and how practices like yoga can support our health and wellbeing. My classes are fun, relaxed and spacious, allowing students to do what they need to feel good in their minds and bodies. Since my first training in 2018, I’ve trained in yin, yoga nidra, somatics and meditation (among other things), with some wonderful teachers who continue to inspire me. Read about the science of the mind–body connection on my Substack.

    Offering:

My yin yoga classes are infused with mindful words like poetry, inspired by my work in poetry and writing therapy, and usually end with my favourite practice, a guided relaxation called yoga nidra.

As well as Yin, restorative yoga, yoga for athletes, and meditation, he offers multi-level classes & workshops where students feel seen, supported and appropriately challenged. A student of yoga for over 25 years and teaching since 2012, his professional background in biology, psychotherapy and recovery coaching informs his teaching, integrating mindful movement with functional anatomy. Chris lives between London and Italy, where he hosts nature-based yoga retreats in the mountains. He shares practice with gratitude for his teachers, his students, and the precious opportunity to build community at Sol Centre.
